Cyrus Bussey Memorial
Col. Bussey (1833-1915) is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Before the War, he was a merchant at Bloomfield, Iowa. He served in the Iowa Legislature and as a military aide to the Governor. Once the War started, he was commissioned as the Colonel of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry and was involved in many actions during the War. After the War, he resumed his business career and was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Interior in 1889. Later he practiced law in Washington D.C. This impressive 20 foot memorial is in Section 3 near McKinley Drive. Photos taken May 16, 2010.
